Harris Mountains Heliski is New Zealand's oldest heliskiing operation, pioneering the sport in the Southern Alps since 1978. Based in Wanaka with additional pickups in Queenstown, the operation accesses over 200 runs across the Harris, Buchanan, and Richardson mountain ranges. The terrain is remarkably varied — from gentle glacier bowls perfect for first-time heliskiers to steep couloirs that challenge experts. New Zealand snow is typically drier than its maritime latitude suggests, especially inland near Wanaka. The team includes some of New Zealand's most experienced mountain guides. Wanaka is a relaxed lakeside town with excellent restaurants and craft breweries.
